Physical science classes are much more exciting if they include student activities and demonstrations! We will introduce low-cost activities with Pressure, Sinking, and Floating. We’ll also share a few of our favorite physics demonstrations used in classes at UW-La Crosse and Western Technical College. These activities are hands-on and inquiry-based.

Sweet Addiction: What’s in your child’s backpack?

There’s an explosion of candy flavored tobacco products that look like mints and lip gloss. Students are using these products in their social studies and math classes, discreetly sharing at lockers. Learn how today’s students are being targeted by Big Tobacco and how we can keep youth tobacco rates down.

Yoga for Children (PRO PARA)

Participate in a child-geared yoga class that will trace the mythological roots of Yoga through many stories and tales of the inspiration for poses (asanas). Each Yoga pose will be explained through these stories and their links to the natural world such as trees, mountains, flowers and animals.
